Your mind and your tongue are powerful tools. You can use them to believe and speak God’s word or you can choose not to. I am saying from my own personal experience that journalling and praying (talking) to God has worked for me. I read His word so I can speak it back to him when I need to ask Him for something. Ex. Lord in your word you said you would never leave or forsake me, so right now I need you to help me through this situation of unemployment. Give me the strength, patience, skills, potential and the words to say in an interview that will get me the job/career I need and want. I know you are an all powerful God and you said you will provide all of my needs, so I am trusting you to do this not in my time but in yours. But while I wait help me to understand and do the best I can to praise you and see the blessings that surround me everyday. In Jesus Name I Pray (IJNIP) Amen!
Once you decide to see the positive side of things and not focus on what others are getting or have and just decide that you are too blessed to worry then you will start to see things happen. Recognize those “little” blessings that happen everyday. (You woke up, you have the activity of your limbs, your have your eye sight, you have food to eat, a place to live, a job to go to, a vehicle to drive, etc.) Focusing on negative will only make you sad and depressed and negative. Negative begets Negative. Positive begets positive. Also “speak those things that arent as though they are” (STATA). Every time you hear yourself or feel yourself about to complain or worry change it into something positive. (Complaint: I need more money! Ugh/ STATA: Lord thank you for financial prosperity, thank you for supplying the finances I need to live an abundant life.) Try it for 2 weeks and watch it make a difference. I believe! Do you?
The evening verse from my devotions was teaching about Daniel 9:8. The question was posed: “Who is there, although he may long have been engaged in the Christian warfare, that will not blush when he looks back upon the past?” Then the statement was made that: “An unpardoned sinner sins cheaply compared with the sin of one of God’s own elect ones…” I pondered this question and statement facing the fact that I have been truly guilty of this, looking back at my past acknowledging things that I have done that would not make God or my parents proud and even now that I know what God wants me to do and has instructed me to do, I am still guilty of doing things because I want to do them. This past Sunday my pastor said that means that LOVE is missing from my relationship with Christ. I know I love Christ but I have not shown Him my full and complete love because I am still disobedient when it is something that I want to do regardless of what I know God wants or has instructed me to do. Afterward I repent for my sin but do I lament over my sin? I believe there were a few times were I lamented over my sin and knowing because of God’s grace and mercy I am forgiven I was comforted. But other times I was sorry for my sin and repented but I did not lament over them because a while went past and the sin was repeated. If I was truly passionate about my grief in committing my sin then I would not have repeated it. So now my personal agenda is to try to show my love to God through my actions and not my words. IJNIP Amen!!!
Just recently a friend of mine informed me that my title will be Executive Encourager for a project we are working on. It made me think about what that title means. The adjective of executive means: of, pertaining to, or suited for carrying out plans, duties, etc. The verb encourager means: to inspire with courage, spirit, or confidence: to stimulate by assistance, approval, etc. to promote, advance, or foster. So I thought WOW that is pretty AWESOME that she thinks of me that way. Then I thought about the Holy Spirit our Executive Encourager. The Holy Spirit was sent to us by Jesus because it is suited for carrying out plans to assist, direct and inspire us in our advancement on this earth, to give us courage to run the race and to promote a better relationship with God. To foster us until we make it to our home in the sky. What an awesome gift! I will forever be grateful for this honor and try my best to live up to its meaning.
Lord, I just thank YOU for all you have done, continue to do, and will do in the future. Lord I am so grateful that you woke me up, I have the activity of my limbs, I have family and friends who love me and I most importantly that I have a relationship with you. Lord I ask right now that you protect and guide the youth of this world. Surround them with people to encourage, uplift, guide and protect them. Lord I ask that you cover all the marriages in this world. Teach them what they should do and how they should act as married couples. Put a hedge of protection around them so that any wickedness or wicked people cannot touch them. Lord I ask that you comfort and encourage the single men and women. Help us to be content, patient, and grateful for the opportunities that we have to glorify you because you said in your word that we will serve you better as single because our attention is not divided or shared with our spouses, children or household affairs. So let us be content until YOU see fit to change our circumstances if that be Your will. Lord You are a healer so I ask that you go into the hospitals, prisons, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, private homes and hospices and heal the people You are the only one who knows whether it will be a earthly healing or a heavenly healing but whatever your will is grant the loved ones peace and understanding for whatever your will is. Lord we know you as Jehovah Jireh, our provider so I ask that you go into the streets and shelters and provide for the homeless. Lord YOU know their needs. Provide a warm place to stay, food that will nourish their bodies and Your Holy Spirit to nourish their souls. (IJNIP) In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen!
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
Personal Reflection: There has been a lot of talk of people loving others who don’t love them and people who take advantage of others love or friendship. What I get from this passage is to love regardless because God loves us so much that He gave his one and only son Jesus Christ to die for OUR sins. Jesus did nothing wrong yet He gave up His life that we could have everlasting life and love one another the same way. So, although you may have some who take advantage or you think takes advantage of your friendship or love, set it aside and love them anyway. Because Jesus did the same for you and He did not know you. Also, each day we live because we are human and not perfect we do something to neglect, take advantage or not show God and Jesus that we love them and that we appreciate their sacrifices for us YET they forgive and love us anyway. So love one another despite everything. IJNIP Amen.
